Camouflage Cosmetics: Make-up Techniques After Plastic Surgery

You have recently had plastic surgery or are considering undergoing a cosmetic surgery procedure. Is there a way to camouflage the incision marks, bruising and swelling that often result from surgery in the days or weeks during your healing process? Yes there is.

Dr. David Broadway, Denver, Colorado cosmetic surgeon, understands that the post-operative period can be difficult for his patients. The healing process after receiving any type of surgery can bring with it a period of being unhappy with the way you look as your body is recovering. Sometimes patients may experience a short period of depression as their bodies begin to heal, and they may find it difficult to see past the temporary side effects of their surgery.

There is help

Don’t be discouraged. There are camouflage cosmetics available that can help lessen or hide those marks and can be used by women, men or teens who have undergone cosmetic surgery. Ask your surgeon when it will be appropriate for you to begin using these post-surgery helpers.

Usually within a couple of days after your surgery, or once the cast has been removed if you have undergone nose surgery (rhinoplasty), you can begin using these camouflage methods. For incision scars, you must wait until the stitches have been removed and the incision has closed and sealed completely. If you have received a chemical peel or dermabrasion treatments, you must wait until the healing crust is gone before applying any makeup to the area.

The best cosmetic camouflages

· Concealers should be opaque and waterproof for best results. They should also be a creamy consistency so they can be applied gently with no strain on the sensitive skin. Concealers should closely match your normal skin tone. These are the best cosmetics for covering skin imperfections after eyelid surgery or facelifts and for other discoloration around incisions and general bruising.

· Color correctors are used for reddened or yellowed skin. Lavender and green tints are the best for neutralizing discoloration of bruised skin. Lavender works well for yellow tones, while green covers red tones nicely.

· Contouring make-up is usually a type of foundation or pressed powder and is used to disguise swelling. This make-up aids in creating highlights and shadows until the swelling from nose surgery or facial implants diminishes. You can create the illusion of higher cheekbones, minimize the swelling in your chin or make your nose appear narrower until swelling from surgery has subsided. The best choice is one that is two shades lighter and one that is two shades darker than your normal foundation or skin tone.

Cosmetics used to camouflage the post-surgical imperfections during your healing process are generally made of a thicker, more adherent substance than standard makeup. For this reason, it is essential that you remove it every night with a gentle cleansing cream. After removal, use a gentle toner that contains no alcohol and apply a moisturizer that is made for your individual skin type. Any removal or applications should be done with soft cotton balls to avoid further irritation to the healing skin.

Make Up Tips

'Beauty is skin deep', so goes the good old saying. But, that does not rob the charm of enhancing your looks. So, hey there, beauty conscious, there's just no harm in having some of the best beauty tips up your sleeves. For looking and feeling beautiful is a sign of health and happiness.

Beautiful makeup tips are useful to know what you should do to make the makeup work to its fullest capacity, for, makeup done unprofessionally and without any thought would not be able to give you the desired results. Before applying the makeup that you hope would create a magical aura around you, consider these following tips for beautiful makeup:

Eye makeup tips should be practiced ahead of time to guarantee you will not look like a makeup experiment as a worse scenario. Curling your lashes to make your eyes open and stick to dark colored mascaras will make you look more natural, but if you want to add a dramatic effect, line your lower lashes.

Bridal makeup tips are enclosed with a simple concept: less is more. Because everybody will be looking at you on your wedding day, do not pretend to put all the makeup in the world all over your face. Masquerading yourself behind a heavily painted face will make you look artificial, particularly if you do not wear too much makeup in your every day activities.

Here are some tips on how to put on eye shadows. Apply first to the under brow a highlighter color like a light neutral color. Apply from the brow to the lid. Examples of highlighter colors to be used on the under brow were pale taupe or gray. Next, apply a second color to the orbital bone like a dark or medium neutral. These colors can be brought halfway to the lid. Examples of colors to be used on the orbital bone were smoked plum, gray, or smoked navy.

Face Shape Makeup Tips

Oval: This is the "ideal" facial shape. With the use of dark and light correctors every facial shape can be made to resemble an oval facial shape. Oval faces can need darker foundation applied at the forehead and chin to make it less severely oval.

Trapezoidal: This facial shape requires refining the lower part of the face with a darker corrector while also using a light corrector at the temple. This will bring the face in, making it more narrow and longer.

Rectangular or Square: Correct both of these shapes with darker foundation at the four corners. This redefines the corners into more of a curve, giving it a whole new dimension.

Lipsticks were to be chosen in the cool shades particularly in rose tones. Examples of cool lipstick shades were pinks, plums, burgundies, (the plums and burgundies can also be brownish) blue-reds and clear reds. The reds could be used as a base for the other colors. If any of the lipstick colors turned blue; it was suggested to try a frosted lipstick. A lipstick brush or pencil was to be used to outline the lips. When buying a lipstick brush, one that a sable tip was suggested.
