its all just music, dont try to confuse yourself with genres. these days things like "punk rock" and "emo" are more fashion trends than anything. bands that you might consider emo or punk rock might not think of themselves as that. "punk rockers" typically dress in really tight jeans (if its a boy, sometimes the pants will belong to their sister) jean jackets with pins/patches on them, t-shirts of their favorite "punk rock" bands from the 70s and 80s (often ripped up or with sleeves cut off). "emos" can usually be found wearing buddy holly style horned rimmed glasses, their favorite "emo" (these days aka pop punk) bands t-shirts, often times clothes from a thrift store (cheap sweaters, vintage jackets, scarves)
