Shiatsu and Magnetic Therapy
Shiatsu is about energy, it is about projection of energy, it is about being a conduit for universal energy, it is about re-aligning a recipients energy; but it is also about pressure, the physical stimulus of selected trigger points, about physical releasing of toxins that had become locked into tissue, about releasing spasms and about correcting posture; it is about working on pressure points and releasing physical blocks to energy pathways. It also involves releasing the body armour, the muscles tightness that indicates locked in emotional stress.
There are many styles of Shiatsu some are predominantly about the physical work. In other styles the energy work predominates.
The relative importance of the ratio between physical and energy work will vary with each patient and the conditions presented at the time of the treatment.
The therapist works on the pathways of energy that run around the body, gentle pressure is applied at points along these pathways, with the intention of ensuring a balance and easy flow of energy around the body. Some gentle stretching and easy manipulation may also be involved.
Shiatsu can be used for --Back pain and injury. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, hormonal problems, head aches, migraine, and so many more things there is not room to list them
Magnetic Therapy is also about energy, and the use of magnets to free up and stimulate the flows of energy and of blood within the body.
Shiatsu and Magnetic Therapy are complementary to each other and good results can be achieved by the use of magnets and magnetically enhanced support wraps, between Shiatsu sessions. Both seek to improve the balance of internal forces within the holistic person. Both can use the ancient meridians and points of acupuncture, but without needles or any form of penetration of the skin. Both can be of great help with muscular problems and the combination of Shiatsu treatments with Magnetic therapy devices worn between Shiatsu sessions can speed up recovery.
Magnets do not wear out; not with normal use and normal human time spans. The energy given out by a permanent magnet returns to it, the balancing and correcting being done as the forces pass through the body. To find a way of visualising this, consider a river with logs trying to flow down stream but the logs are all over the place muddled up some at right angles to the river banks others at sixty degrees etc, a mess. Then consider what happens to the flow of logs, if they are all orientated in the same direction of parallel to the river banks. They flow effortlessly with the river water. This is what magnets can do to the flows of blood and fluids within the body. This is also what Shiatsu and Magnetic therapy can do to the flows of energy and life forces within the body.
In every aspect of our lives intuition is the principle guiding force and the intellect is the tool that enables us to go in the direction chosen by our intuition. Complete and eclectic (wide ranging, all embracing) training with really absorbed knowledge are vital for good treatment. Really absorbed knowledge is that knowledge which has become almost unconscious knowledge, that which is known without conscious logical reasoning. Only with these things can the practitioner allow their intuitive senses to guide them into which parts of their intellectual knowledge they use at any moment in time.
Magnetic Therapy can be used for--Back pain and injury. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, head aches, migraine, speeding up of recovery from most injuries and illness, this list could go on for several pages.
About the Author
Having trained as a technical engineer in electro magnetic motors I then spent many years studying, with the leading teachers of the time, holistic forms of health care. Including Shiatsu and Acupuncture. In the later part of this time I started to investigate the use of magnets as part of health care
I have treated thousands of patients using this experience and knowledge;
1983/4 studied Shiatsu at the East West Centre in London and continued studies with Harold Dull, Waturi Ohashi, Yamomoto etc
1984 to 1986 studied massage/ anatomy/ physiology/ acupuncture and homoeopathy with the Association of Natural Medicines.
Now retired from providing treatments that incorporate Shiatsu, Acupressure, Magnet Therapy, Moxibustion and advice on herbal, flower and homoeopathic remedies.
I have developed an on line course of instruction in Magnetic Therapy
Author of books on the I Ching and Magnet Therapy ( The practical guide to magnet

Shiatsu Massage Benefits
Hiatsu is the appliance of finger pressure to varied points along the "meridian lines" of the body. The intent is to manipulate the body's "Ki" flow to cause advantageous results. Shiatsu and Acupressure are strongly related in that both manipulate these meridian points thru pressure by fingers, thumbs, and palms. In Shiatsu, very like other kinds of massage, one can use not simply the thumbs and fingers, but also elbows, palms, knees, or perhaps feet ( thumbs, palms, and fingers are employed in traditional Shiatsu. ) Mixed with a solid awareness of pressure points Shiatsu works really well to alleviate agony, relax the body, and promote healing. Some have even used Shiatsu for headaches, but that may alter significantly with the individual. So what are the advantages of shiatsu massage? Shiatsu practitioners are trained in diagnosis, as well as treatment, and the desire of Shiatsu is to stop illness and to help in recovery and help healing. Shiatsu is a "whole body" system, so its use will help the immune and circulatory systems, bone structure, muscles, and the overall fitness of the body. Shiatsu was developed in Japan in the 1900s and is based off guidelines that are millenia old. In a number of ways it can be looked at as a modification of acupressure, or acupuncture without the needles. The Japan Varsity of Shiatsu was established in 1940 and Shiatsu became sometimes accepted in Japan in the fifty's and is growing around the planet. Today Shiatsu practice in Japan is controlled and practitioners have to go thru a regime licensing program. A few divergences on Shiatsu strategies have developed over time. One is Grigorian Strategy Shiatsu, by Dr Grigore, Shiatsu Master. This is a completely unique full body treatment that is concentrated on the skeleton. It mixes joint motion and "range of motion" movements with pressure points which needs the customer to be passive, loose, and relaxed. It is a defensive care for inflammatory illness as well as a good system of recovery and body upkeep. Another form is Zen Shiatsu, originated by Shizuto Masunaga ( 1925-1981. ) This form mixes the conventional Shiatsu systems with the meditative state of the expert. The Zen meditative state allows the masseur to better feel the customer's replies to the treatment. The Zen Shiatsu Specialist uses these replies, and his hands, to see the inequalities of the body and he then tries to revive those inequalities. Aromatherapy is sometimes used with Shiatsu massage. While not officially part of shiatsu treatment the aromatherapist brings added benefit to the Shiatsu session. Note, that just having a pleasing scent in the massage room isn't Aromatherapy. Acupressure Coaching in Shiatsu can be had at a selection of offline and online massage coaching centers. Look in your telephone book for local Shiatsu Massage centers or go browsing and search on "acupressure training" or "shiatsu training." You will see a fair number of sites come up under either of those terms. Shiatsu is tricky, if not actually impossible, to gain from a book, so a good shiatsu teacher is strongly recommended. If you can not find a Shiatsu consultant a fascinating alternative could be a Shiatsu massage chair. These chairs try to reproduce the effect of a Shiatsu massage, though I do not imagine that they are superb at manipulating Ki flow or entering into a Zen meditative state. They do offer a very good massage, though , and can be really snug.
